The Pontianak is a Malaysian myth referring to a revenge ghost. If you smell plumeria, she is close. If you smell death it’s too late, but only if you are a man. In the original story, the hero of the story is any man who drives a coffin nail into the base of her throat. This subdues her and turns her into the “perfect wife.”. In my version, she is able to remove the nail, and leads other women who have passed by brutal means into peace.
